Hi! I'm Lawrence

Surely if I get slightly bigger, leaner and stronger, the screaming in my head will stop

Calisthenics coach at Chrome Cave.  My calisthenics journey began in 2014 when I nearly drowned whilst on holiday in Majorca. I wasn’t fit enough to keep swimming when I needed to, and knew I had to get myself in shape to never be in a situation like that again due to something I had control over.

When back from holiday, I immediately started swimming six times per week, but found I was massively lacking in strength. I started up in the weights room at the gym following Men’s Health workouts, but never really felt like I was pursuing something meaningful to myself, it just felt off. A couple of weeks into weightlifting, I saw a YouTube video of guys doing crazy pullups in New York. They were throwing their bodyweight around like it was nothing, and of course it didn’t hurt that they were hugely muscular and shredded. I knew I wanted to be that level of strong. I started reading up on calisthenics training, and eventually got my first full unassisted pullup after two weeks.

Since then, calisthenics has been an addiction. I moved onto training for moves such as the muscle up and handstand, got coaching, and decided to get my own coaching qualification in 2017 when friends started asking me for advice on their own training.

I’ve been teaching calisthenics full time since 2018, and hope to do so for the rest of my life.

I hope I can help you reach your own training goals!
